This timeline is a rough estimate of the process please refer to the City of Atascadero for the latest updates and news about the project.

WHAT IS THE ECR PROJECT?

The ECR Project, also referred to as the El Camino Real Downtown Safety and Parking Enhancements Project, has been under development for seven years within the City of Atascadero. Through numerous workshops, community meetings, and extensive feedback gathering, it represents a culmination of expressed concerns and suggestions aimed at enhancing downtown Atascadero. The project is scheduled to commence in June 2024 and is expected to conclude by Summer 2025.

The goal of this project is to:

  1. Increase pedestrian and bicyclist safety. Ensuring increased safety for kids that walk downtown to and from school as well as for shoppers and residents frequenting the downtown.

  2. Add 100 additional FREE parking spots to the downtown ensuring those who frequent our downtown to shop or eat have plenty of space to park.

  3. Create an economic revitalization of our downtown, building an intentional space for people to shop, play, eat, and enjoy downtown.
